Velma C. Jones

Velma began her career as a Teacher's Aide for BOCES in Wheatley Heights, where she left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students. Her passion for education and her nurturing nature made her an invaluable asset to the school. Velma's commitment to helping others learn and grow will be remembered by generations of students whose lives she touched.

In addition to her successful career, Velma was a proud mother to her sons August Groeber, Fred Jones and Steven Jones. She adored her family and cherished time together with them and her five grandchildren Gena, Katie, Heather, Steve and Chris. Their bond was unbreakable, and their love for each other was evident to all who knew them. She had a zest for life that was contagious and brought smiles to those around her. Velma had a way of making every moment special.

A visitation honoring Velma's life will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729. Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to pay their respects during this time.  Following the visitation, a Mass will be held at Saints Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church on Half Hollow Rd., Deer Park, NY 11729. The Mass will commence at 11:15 AM, offering the opportunity for everyone to come together in a celebration of Velma's life and mourn her passing. A burial will follow immediately after the Mass at Pinelawn Memorial Park. 

Velma C. Jones will be dearly missed by all those who loved her. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering support will forever live on through the lives she touched. As we mourn her loss, let us also remember the joy she brought to our lives and the beauty of her spirit. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her loved ones who have gone before her.
