Vincent Joseph Abbatiello, Sr.

Vincent Joseph Abbatiello, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2023, at Affinity Nursing Home. He was born on May 27, 1943, in Rockville Centre. Vincent's family knew him affectionately as Jimmy.

Vincent is survived by his seven children; Christine Ann Lovalvo, Vincent J., Jr., Tina Marie Genovese, Patricia Michelle, Vincent Robert, Shawn, and Keri Ann. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Mario T., Ralph A., Rosemarie A. Barila, Raymond R., Annette G. Padich, Albert M., many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Fishing provided him with a peaceful escape from the pressures of everyday life and allowed him to connect with nature. Mechanically inclined, Vincent's other passions included automobiles and boats.

Vincent served his country proudly as part of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. His time in service filled him with immense pride as he contributed to ensuring the safety of our waters. Vincent cherished the camaraderie he shared with his fellow servicemen and took immense pride in their shared dedication to protecting others.

Those who knew Vincent intimately were aware of his sensitive side that he concealed from many. He possessed a tender heart that he guarded with great care. Although he may have kept this aspect of himself hidden from the world at times, those who were lucky enough to see it experienced a depth of compassion and empathy that left an indelible mark on their lives.

In this time of mourning for the Abbatiello family, we celebrate Vincent's life by remembering the cherished memories and the love he shared with everyone he encountered. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
