Wayne M. Johnson, affectionately known as Mickey, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023, at Good Shepherd Hospice. He was born on February 25, 1949, in Newport, RI.
Mickey lived a life filled with love, laughter, and selflessness. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. Mickey's passing leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but his memories will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
Mickey proudly served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972. His dedication to his country was evident throughout his military service, where he exemplified honor and bravery. He was an exceptional sailor and made numerous significant contributions during his time in the Navy.
Aside from Mickey's military service, his greatest source of joy came from being a loving father to his sons Wayne, Timothy, and Nicholas. His devotion to them was unmatched. Mickey cherished every moment spent together as a family and took immense pride in watching his sons grow into remarkable individuals.
In addition to his sons, Mickey is survived by his ex-wife Natalie, brother Vandorn, and sister Patricia. The bond shared between them was unbreakable and will forever be treasured. Their support brought great comfort to Mickey throughout his life.
Mickey's impact extended beyond the boundaries of family ties; he had an extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went. His warm smile and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He set an example of kindness, compassion, and generosity that will continue to inspire generations to come.
The funeral service honoring Mickey's life will be held on July 19, 2023, at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY. The burial ceremony will commence at 11:30 AM with loved ones gathering there to pay their final respects. Calverton National Cemetery, situated at 210 Princeton Boulevard, will serve as the final resting place for this extraordinary man who has touched countless lives.
Mickey's memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the stories we share, reminding us of the invaluable lessons he taught us about love, family, and friendship.
