Wolfgang Hasselbach, a longtime resident in the Riverhead area, passed away on April 12, 2024, in Westhampton Beach, New York. He was born on August 29, 1946, in Wuppertal, Germany to Wilhelm and Gertrud Hasselbach.
After "Wolfe" proudly served in the Navy from 1967 to 1971, demonstrating his patriotism and willingness to serve his country with honor, he worked as a Printer for Suffolk County. He was a fan of Nascar Racing and frequently attended the races at Riverhead Raceway and in the Poconos. Wolfe also enjoyed collecting miniature race cars, model trains and watching auto races, NY Rangers Hockey and Soccer, especially from Germany.
Wolfgang's presence will be deeply missed by those whose lives he touched. He is survived by Alice Hasselbach, his beloved wife of 55 years, who shared many cherished moments with him throughout their time together. He was also adored by his small circle of friends who looked forward to every visit with him. As well as his extended family, his sister-in-law Ann Festa and many 11 nieces and nephews and their families.
Memorial Services to celebrate Wolfgang's life will be held at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead, New York, on April 16th, 2024.
2:00-4:30pm, and 7:00-9:30pm. A burial ceremony will follow Wednesday April 17th, 2024, at Calverton National Cemetery at 11:30am.
In honoring Wolfgang Hasselbach's memory, may we also remember his engaging sense of humor, unwavering spirit and dedication that inspired all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
